Rusty Essling is an 18-month-old Rhodesian Ridgeback, and has been coming to Good Dog Hotel & Spa since August 2016. And how do we know he loves coming to daycare? Because when Rusty’s dad brings him into our facility in the morning, he rushes the whole way to the daycare door and can’t wait to come inside.We know that taking your beloved dog to daycare can be an emotional experience, and rest assured, we at the Good Dog Hotel & Spa aim to make your pet’s experience a great one. When dog owners ask us about the benefits of daycare, not only are we happy to share them, we also like to tell stories about our special visitors who know first-hand. That’s why we’re excited for you to meet Rusty Essling – a true daycare lover.
For our 3rd installment in the Mini Me blog series, meet Hawkeye and Willow. Hawkeye is a 9-year-old weim who has been visiting us since he was a pup — his mini-me is a tiny 3-year-old dachshund spitfire named Willow. Here is a little more about each pup:

Nickname: We lovingly call her Weeeeeeelow (you have to sound it out and smile when you say it).

Willow is sassy and sweet. She rules the roost when in daycare, and gets lots of love and attention from humans.
Hawkeye is noble, calm, mindful and loving. One of our oldest clients, he’s adored by everyone in our building.
When we first met Willow, she weighed barely a pound. She could actually fit in a pocket, which only made us want to put her in our pockets and run away with her.
Hawkey’s routine is to run through our doors, dash into daycare, open the gates himself and plop down on the bed. He used to roll with the bigs when he was younger; he has since retired to the slower pace of our littles.
Willow’s mom and dad are originally from Spain and moved here to teach Spanish.
Hawkeye comes from a big family of Iowa fans, hence his name.
Why we love her: all of the above, plus her parents are the nicest people on earth and her adopted sister Lola is a sweetpea!

I worked out, I trained, I carbo-loaded (Ok, mostly I just carbo-loaded), all so I could participate in Mutt Strut 2014. It’s not only The Greatest Spectacle in Dog Walking, it’s Indy Humane’s biggest fundraiser for our shelter pups and kitties, so I just had to offer my support! This was my first year participating and it exceeded all expectations. Four members of my Good Dog fam accompanied me, plus my bestie Millie, the Good Dog daycare queen. Here are a few of my memories from the event … Enjoy!

Hello Indy dogs and friends. We’re Rupac and Owsley. We’re both 2 years old boys and are Rottweiler mixes. Today is kind of a sad day. This is technically our last Friday at Good Dog Daycare. We’ve been coming here for over a year. Half of our life has been spent with the amazing people here. They’ve seen us grow from pup to dog.
WHY is it our last Friday? …Glad you asked. You see, we’re moving to another state next week. It’s scary and exciting all at the same time. Our parents decided to move, so we’re along for the ride. We can only hope our parents will find as awesome a doggie daycare as Good Dog. We’ll also miss Indianapolis.
We are both really big and super playful. You could say we are definitely a presence when we enter daycare. However, we are NOT aggressive. We’re energetic. We made a deal that we wouldn’t act like some brothers or brother/sister pairs. We’ve seen some that are kinda mean and act like “bullies,” ganging up on other dogs. Nope. We don’t like that. We’d rather be friends and playmates with the dogs we’re around everyday. That’s how we’ve been able to become best friends with Clyde, Favory, and Max Ford. (We’ll miss you so, so much!)
We’re the type of dogs that can really control a room. The energy level increases as soon as we come to daycare, but in a good way…probably because we don’t really lay down that much. We’d rather go, go, go and play, play, play. And now we’re on the move…quite literally.
Well, Good Dog ~ we’ll miss you. We promise to send photos of the new places we end up, and we promise to send photos of us as we grow up. The new doggy daycare will have big shoes to fill. Thank you for loving us and caring for us all this time!
Hey everyone! My name is Annie Lagrotte. I’m a 4 year-old Great Pyrenees. I’ve often been told I have beautiful long white fur, which could be the reason why I am MY OWN WOMAN. I have to admit, I don’t really like everyone I meet. It just takes me a while to warm up to people.
At Good Dog, there is a staff member named Lucas. Everyone LOVES Lucas, but no, not me. He has this crazy, curly blonde hair. (Okay, so I may be a little jealous…whatever.) I just don’t like him that much. I’ll let the other dogs love on him. Maybe I’m just a rebel.
I have a brother. His name is Soldier. I’m VERY protective of him. Same goes with my mommy. I’m just as protective of her. I feel as though some pooch needs to be responsible for them, so I don’t mind taking that responsibility. I love them very much. I also LOVE Lauren, in Good Dog’s Daycare. I liked her the moment I met her.
I’m really not that playful. I like to think I have a bit of dignity and grace to me. Honestly, I’m a princess and everyone needs to know that. I’m not one for silliness or games, and it is highly unlikely for me to EVER act inappropriately. After all, I have a reputation to uphold.
I’m also pretty tall. I almost reign over all my doggie subjects in Daycare, but in a motherly protective way. I never move fast, always walk slow and never rush because I don’t feel there is a big hurry to do things. Life is sweet and should be taken in.
But, at the end of the day, I am unfailingly loyal and protective. I love being at Good Dog!
Hey there! My name is Bartholomew Summers. I’m just over year old and I’m a Miniature Dachshund. Good Dog Doggie Daycare has changed my life. Before I started coming here, my dog years were pretty great because I have an amazing family who loves me and gives me treats. But it was at Good Dog, where I met my bestest friend in the ENTIRE world, Sammy! Now my doggie years are EXCEPTIONAL!
Sammy Clevenger is my age. He’s a cool King Charles Spaniel. We actually started coming to Good Dog Hotel and Spa Daycare pretty close to the same time. Even though we’re not from the same family, it’s as if we’re brothers from another mother. Our birthdays are even in the same month!
We’re both pretty small, and we’re both white with light brown coloring.
Sammy always jokes around with me and says “you’re too small to be acting like a Great Dane!” We always get a kick out of that because I know I sometimes act like I’m too big for my britches. But it’s all in fun.
Me and Sammy play together and nap together ALL the time! We make friends very easily and let other dogs into our “little dog club” often. We really like Sasha, Holden, and Ollie! They’re all a part of our club too!

Hi, my name is Rags Middleton. I’m a Boarder Terrier/Poodle mix.
I’m not a young pup, almost 6 actually, but I know I’m still an adorable little boy.
I was a rescue pup. Before I came to live in the wonderful home with the family I have now, I was in a pretty serious accident. I won’t go into the details of it. It was pretty dramatic. I was left with a couple of injuries, but that doesn’t stop my owner and the caregivers at Good Dog from loving me fully. They all appreciate that my tongue hangs out of my mouth. (It makes for an easy time lovin’ on everyone.) ☺
I also love to take advantage of a camera. I can pose with the best of them. My caregivers at Good Dog are always saying how photogenic I am. They have lots of great photos of me, and I love it.
I love coming to Good Dog Hotel & Spa. I met my best friends, Tess and Zappa here. We love to play and run around. We have so much fun that I have to take a rest every once and a while and catch up on some zzzzzz’s. Phew, I love a good nap.
Something else that is awesome is how high I can jump for being so small. I can actually jump the fence! But, just because I can, doesn’t mean I always do. As a matter of fact, I seldom do unless I really want to see one of my dog friends and play for a while in their area, or just see one of the Good Dog staff and give hugs. Yeah, I also been told I give great hugs.
I always get excited though when my Mom comes and picks me up. I mean, I love my friends in daycare, but I am definitely a people person. Plus, I miss her too, and it helps because Mom is ALWAYS there with a treat for me. And boy, do I love my treats.
I’m hanging out in the daycare a few times a week. Sometimes, I even get to stay in the hotel. It’s awesome to get a mini-vacation every once in a while. But what’s even better is I get to be loved and cared for by the most amazing dog people in all of Indianapolis. I love them, and they love me.
