Meet our sweet and silly Rufus!





Hi I’m Rufus! On March 10, I was found wandering alone but happy, trying to play with another dog that wasn’t very nice to me. Some friendly people noticed I was a total sweetheart and saved me from the mean dog, but without tags or a microchip, no one could find my owner. Right now I’m in a friendly place, but I’m looking for a forever home. Everyone who meets me is blown away at how well behaved I am, especially on a leash. I also know “sit” and am ready to learn more! I just LOVE people, and I’d be happiest with an owner who can spend lots of time with me and take me on walks – someone who appreciates that I’m a little clumsy and love to snuggle and give kisses. I may be a bit rambunctious for kids under 10. While Tiki is my best friend, I adore ALL dogs and would be super happy in a home with a playmate. My favorite activities are fetch (I can even catch toys in mid-air) and entertaining myself by tossing around stuffed toys. I have a long body with short legs and pretty hair like a Chesapeake Bay retriever, so some think I’m a basset mix. My vet said I’m about a year old, and 46 pounds.
